Antigone

So, freshmen and sophomore students, we will be reading Antigone, the ancient play by Sophocles. This play explores themes of conscience and political power, unity, and dissent, themes of practical values and transcendent values. You will find, I hope, that there is an amazing clarity of expression and story-telling–despite the fact that the play is so very old. And I hope you will also find relevance in it for our own times.
